The modes of expression of the literary genres –symposium, epistle, hymns, bucolic poetry– are always in connection with a pattern or a model which is more powerful and permanent than the particular productions. In spite of their marginal position in the frame of the social historical criticism, there is no denying that genres are bearers of meaning when they are concerned with the evolution of political and cultural parameters, specifically those which are involved in the construction of the ideological building of the Christian theology. At least, they were an important stand for transferring the contents which come from the Antiquity and imbricate in the Christianity. The literary genres, in their different forms and sub-forms, may act as the structural support for the transmission of an ideology. We analyze genre statements of pre-Christian age from Greek and Roman sources and their influence on the construction of the Christian discourse structure. The research team analyzed genre statements of pre-Christian age from Greek, Jewish Hellenistic and Roman sources and studied their influence in the construction of the most significant Christian contribution: the discourse structure of the doctrinal corpus written by the Church Fathers.
